Camp Willow for Extraordinary Adults (Certificate Track)
Teens and adults with autism and/or related challenges.
A comprehensive program that incorporates evidence-based practices such as video modeling, reinforcement and prompting, which are founded in applied behavior analysis. These skills will be reinforced by participating in daily activities within the community of Northville. We will focus on skills such as self-advocacy, cooking, shopping based on a budget, household chores, job training, peer relationships, community engagement, and independent living skills. Our camp experiences are designed a facilitated by certified special education teachers, registered behavior technicians, social workers, art therapists, and peer mentors. Living and Learning’s unique approach to building lasting friendships while developing social skills is based heavily on having peer mentors. Peer mentors provide our campers with an organic approach to social interaction with their peers, adults, and within the community.

Campers are responsible to bring a packed lunch daily due to dietary restrictions and preferences. They will have access to a microwave and toaster if they would like to bring foods that require a little bit of preparation. We will be shopping at Kroger every Tuesday for our cooking activity. Campers are encouraged and welcome to do shopping for their own household. Campers will need to bring their parent/guardian approved shopping lists and money on shopping days for personal shopping. Clients will have the option to eat the prepared meal but are still welcome to bring a lunch/snacks from home on cooking days. Each camper will be provided with a folder that they will be responsible to bring to and from camp with them daily; this will act as a form of communication between parents and staff.
Community outings may include the following:
Papa John’s Pizza, Northville Fire Station, Great Harvest Bread Company, Sweet Brew ‘n’ Spice, Cherie Baby, and Poole’s Tavern. We will also visit Kroger, The Northville Library, and Farmer’s Market each week.
